Less intrusive metric warnings

Warnings share important information for you to know when analyzing metrics in quintly. So far these warnings with their full message were shown at the top, leaving less space for the actual chart or table. To make warnings a better experience we have introduced a less intrusive warning icon in the header of a metric, showing the full warning message on click.

New visualization filters

As our default metrics section, "Discover", continues to grow, reaching over 650 metrics across multiple networks and use cases, we have added another way to filter them quickly. You can now refine your results by using a visualization filter.

 Visualization filters

Where to find it?

Navigate to the discover section, select "metrics", and choose which visualization type you are interested in in the filter sidebar. We currently support Table, Line chart, Bar chart, Column chart, Big number, Gauge chart, Area chart, Bubble chart, Map chart, Scatter chart, Radar chart, Funnel chart, Pyramid chart, Pie, and Waterfall chart.

You can combine the visualization filter with "social network" and "use case" filters to narrow your searches.

It is worth mentioning that the icons introduced with this update are also used in the "Analytics" section to quickly identify the type of the chart in your "Favorites" or "Top 10" lists.

This improvement should help you quickly identify the right metric for you or even discover a completely new one.

Facebook New Pages Experience now supported

Facebook has been rolling out the New Pages Experience recently, and quintly is now fully compatible with this update.

What is the New Pages Experience?

You can read the official article from Facebook here. It is a powerful update for Facebook Pages enabling public figures, businesses and others to manage their presence on Facebook in a better way. There are several changes, including a redesigned layout and better insights. Facebook announced it will migrate all Classic Pages to the New Pages Experience over the coming months.

What does it mean for you?

From the analytical point of view, the most significant change is the transition from Page Likes to Followers and removing the former. To incorporate these changes, we have adjusted the following data sources:

  1. Data source "facebook": There is a new column "followers" beside "fans". Please note that "fans" holds still either the fan or the follower count, depending on whether the Page has already switched to the New Pages Experience.
  2. Data source "profiles": There is a new column "hasTransitionedToNewFacebookPageExperience". This column can be used as a flag when building metrics in quintly.

Post detail view now available

We have just added a default post detail view to all of the table-based metrics. You can now view specific post's information within the quintly platform instead of being redirected to the particular network. This addition is important as it creates the foundation for any new changes on the post level.

 Post Detailed view

How to view a single post?

To access a particular post, navigate to any table metric and click on "view details". A large popup with post information will show up in the center of the screen. The view will contain a large thumbnail, post details (including likes, shares, and comment counts), and associated tags. It is important to add that you can very quickly tag it on the spot, without the necessity of visiting the Tags section.

Why is this change necessary?

As mentioned initially, we will be in the future releases bringing more post-specific metrics, and we needed to find a better, more robust visual system to represent them. Those could be network/post-type-specific metrics, comments, more advanced information if private metrics. We believe that this is a perfect place to accommodate those upcoming changes. Finally, this update is available for both in-app dashboards and shareable links.

New visualization alert: Big Numbers

We’re very happy to announce that you can now present your data in the Big Numbers format. This is a particularly useful feature if you want to highlight a single metric making it visible in the dashboard as a summary, e.g. reach, followers change, and more.

 Big Numbers visualization

What is the Big Numbers visualization?

Alongside the other chart and table types, Big Numbers are introduced to represent a single metric in a more focused way. It contains a single number that can be related to followers, posts, likes, etc., or an average number per day over time, for example, average reach over time. This can also be accompanied by a secondary percentage number that represents a change in comparison to the previous period.

How to get started?

We have created a set of default metrics for each social media network. Visit the “Discover” section, select one and add it to your dashboard. You can always customize or create new custom metrics using our metric builder. It is also worth mentioning that Big Numbers visualization is interchangeable with the gauge chart.

Conclusion

We’re pleased to deliver this new way to present your data. In a true quintly fashion, you can even further enhance your dashboards, exports, and automated reports with single number metrics. Our clients are always looking for more story-driven reporting, and we feel that this release, alongside the recent "Custom Notes" update, is making this goal easier to achieve. We cannot wait to see how our customers will utilize this new feature; they did ask for it :)

Custom notes now available on the metric level

Thanks to this update, you are now able to create custom notes on a single metric level. It becomes convenient if you share your dashboards with other people.

How to create a custom note

To add a custom note to any metric, head to "Edit Settings" and scroll down to the "Custom notes" section. Type in your message, and click on Apply.

It is worth mentioning that only basic HTML formatting is supported (i.e., "<p>", "<b>", "<br>", "<i>", "<big>").

Once saved, you can view your notes as a tooltip right next to the metric name, as a separate section in the metric detailed view, or in the exported report underneath the metric itself.

Availability

We added custom notes on the metric level as a natural evolution of the report's notes, which are available for some time. In this case, instead of focusing on a dashboard level, we have added more granular access to notes. Each metric custom note will be available for shared dashboards, reports, exports, and export links.

This update will allow you to share information on a more granular and focused level so that your team, managers, or clients don't miss important insights.

Instagram comments for authenticated accounts

Today we are excited to announce the availability of a new data source holding the comments on posts of your authenticated Instagram accounts. This data set enables completely new insights into the feedback of your users.

What information is available?

With this data source you have access to comments and their replies on posts of your authenticated Instagram accounts.

Instagram supports comment threads to better organize the discussion. Comments nested in a thread below another comment are called replies. Please note that there is no reply to a reply and nesting is limited at the second level. This data source holds both comments (first level) and replies (second level).

You have access to the following information per comment/reply:

  • Publishing time: The date and time this comment/reply was published
  • Post relationship: Identify the post this comment/reply belongs to
  • Comment relationship: If this comment is a reply to another comment, you can identify the comment it belongs to
  • Username: The username of the comment author
  • Account answer: A flag indicating if this comment/reply was made by the author of the post this comment belongs to (helpful for customer care analysis and response time measurement)
  • Text: The text of this comment
  • Mentions: The @mentions within the text
  • Hashtags: The hashtags within the text
  • Hidden: A flag indicating if this comment/reply was hidden by the account owner of the post this comment belongs to
  • Likes: The number of likes this comment/reply got

Please find the complete documentation in our data sources section in quintly.

Metrics

With this release we have created default metrics for you to start:

  • Comments and Replies Table: See what users have commented and replied on the accounts' posts.
  • Top Commentators: Identify the Instagram users who have commented and replied the most.
  • Top Mentioned Users: Identify the Instagram users who have been mentioned in comments and replies the most.

You can expect additional default metrics to be available in Discover in the next few days.

Are there any limitations?

As of now this data source includes comments and replies made in an organic context only. Paid context commenting is something we will explore further for a future data source focusing on promoted posts and their comments and replies.

Account owners have several options to moderate the discussion. This includes blocking users from commenting and the ability to delete or hide individual comments and replies. Obviously comments that were deleted will not be returned in this data source. Hidden comments will be listed with the appropriate flag set.

Excel and CSV formats added to automated reports

Our customers use automated reports to update the right people within their organization or their clients about ongoing performance, new insights or specific campaigns.

So far, automated reports have been sent by email in PDF format. We have listened to our customers’ feedback and today we are very happy to introduce Excel and CSV formats for automated reports, in addition to PDF.

This improvement will remove extra steps from our users' workflows, so they can pick up their work right from the data attached to the report email.

To change the format for existing reports, simply go to the related dashboard, click "Manage report" and then change the format from PDF to Excel or CSV.

Automate post tagging

A couple months ago we released post tagging to support the analysis of your campaigns in quintly. So far posts could be tagged manually. Today we are enabling you to automate that process based on simple rules.

To get started, log into quintly, go to Tags > Tag Manager and click into the tag you would like to automate. Click "New rule", then specify what profiles should be considered and when to tag a post based on its publishing time and the words within the post text. You can configure the automation to include any future post by setting the end date to forever.

Once set up, the system will first tag all matching posts from the past and then continuously apply the rule whenever new posts come in or existing ones update.

To have full transparency into when a post got tagged you can find the most recently tagged posts on the tag detail page and when hovering a tag within the Post tags section.

We are excited to have this feature released. Let us know about feedback by reaching out to our support at support@quintly.com.

Unveiling LinkedIn short URLs

By default LinkedIn replaces URLs in posts with their own shortened links if the original link exceeds 26 characters. Here is a screenshot of a post on LinkedIn showing a shortened link right before the hashtags are being listed:

To allow for powerful search using our post text filter, we are auto-replacing the LinkedIn short URL with the original URL in quintly:

As a result of this change all URLs - also those longer than 26 characters - will show the original URL in quintly. This allows for powerful filtering using our post text filter.
